Baldwinsville Teacher Killed In Car Crash

The Baldwinsville School District is in mourning after a teacher was killed in a deadly accident thursday afternoon on Interstate 690, just outside of Syracuse.

The victim was killed when a tire from a boat trailer flew off and struck the windshield of her car. State Police say part of the car was crushed under the weight of that tire.

The victim has been indentified as 33 year old Jennifer Miles, a teacher at Baldwinsville Central Schools. Two young children in the car with her at the time suffered just minor injuries.

The other driver with the boat trailer is identified as 62 year old  Nevada West the Third of Liverpool, who had just gotten his boat out of storage for the season. Troopers say Wests' trailer had not been registered or inspected.

The district attorney's office investigated the crash at the scene, but so far, no charges have been lodged against West.
