Olean, NY - State police say calling hours will be held Sunday and Monday and a funeral held on Tuesday for a trooper killed in a fall at Letchworth State Park in western New York during rescue training.
Police say 44-year-old Trooper Ross Riley of Olean fell about 30 feet from a ledge Wednesday afternoon. The 17-year veteran was an experienced rappeller and a member of the state police Special Operations Response Team based in Collins Center, 25 miles south of Buffalo.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and Monday at Casey, Halwig & Hartle Funeral Home in Olean. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Reilly Center at St. Bonaventure University.
Riley's wife, Heidi Riley, is a state police station commander at Olean. They have three daughters.
