A Liverpool man faces manslaughter and other charges in the death of a Liverpool woman and the serious injury of 4 others in a two-vehicle crash on Route 57 in Clay.
Onondaga County Sheriff's detectives arrested Muhammed Baqir and charged him with vehicular manslaughter, driving while under the influence of drugs and aggravated unlicensed operation. Detectives say Baqir's Chrysler Sebring was traveling northbound on Route 57 near Willow Brook Drive when he crossed over to the southbound lane and sideswiped a Honda CRV driven by Debbie Hall of Liverpool, then struck a Ford Escort head-on.
That collision killed 34-year-old Meagan Patterson of Liverpool and seriously injured the four other occupants. They were 35-year-old Lance Patterson, and three young children: 10-year-old Olivia Patterson, 2-year-old Sophia Patterson, and 14-year-old Justin Root. Baqir and his passenger were not hurt. The investigation into the crash continues.
