More Cold, Wind, and Snow Coming

Oswego, N.Y. - Forecasters say areas near the eastern end of Lake Ontario are expected to get a foot or more of snow accompanied by high winds and temperatures dipping below zero.

The National Weather Service has issued a lake-effect snow warning for Oswego County from 2 p.m. Thursday through 4 p.m. Friday. Meteorologists say snowfall totals could top 16 inches by the weekend, with winds gusting up to 40 mph in some areas in central New York.

Temperatures early Friday morning are expected to fall to 5 below to minus-10 in the Tug Hill Plateau area east of Lake Ontario. Forecasters say the wind chill across much of upstate New York will be 20 to 30 below zero before temperatures warm up a bit over the weekend.
