Syracuse Police and US Marshalls have arrested a murder suspect in western New York who's wanted in a brutal murder in Syracuse last month.
City Police say they developed information that 24 year old Eric Woody was in the western part of the state and he was found hiding inside a cabinet Monday inside a home in Niagara Falls. He's now been transported back to Syracuse where he's been arraigned on second degree murder charges.
Woody is a known gang member and was wanted in the murder of 38 year old Shqair Shqair who was gunned down October first inside Sabatino's Pizza on the city's southside during a robbery attempt.
During the robbery, police say the victim tried to reason with the suspect but he ended up dead. Shqair is a father of five who emigrated to the United States to start a new life here.
Shqair was rushed to a Syracuse hospital after being shot but died a few hours later.
Last month, Crimestoppers of New York offered a 25 hundred dollar reward for information that led to his arrest and conviction in the case.
