National Grid Bills Skyrocket In CNY

National Grid customers in Central New York are getting a case of sticker shock when they open their March bills.

For some customers, their supply costs have doubled, and the utility is blaming Old Man Winter for the raid on their wallet.

National Grid says the power supply they purchased in January, the coldest month this year, cost them far more than usual, and because of the lag time on bills, customers are now getting the impact.

The utility claims the problem will only be a temporary one. They say once the weather warms up, electricity prices will drop, but customers may have to endure the skyrocketing bills for the next few billing cycles.
