Oswego County Town Left Reeling After Accident

One Oswego County community has been left reeling after word that a two year old boy was among the victims in a car crash Wednesday night in Hastings.

19 year old Kay Lynn Parkhurst was driving the car down Bradford Road when the car went off the road, slammed into a tree and then the car burst into flames.

Parkhurst was killed in the crash and so was 2 year old Randy Derouchie Junior.

Oswego County Sheriffs Deputies still haven't been able to determine why the car went off the road.

The accident has left the Hastings community in shock and Derouchie's mother, Toni Jones, does not have money for the boy's funeral expenses.

A benefit to help pay for those expenses has been planned for September, but details haven't been worked out.

Jones told 570 WSYR that she has been overwhelmed with emotional support from the community. People have been stopping by with cards, food and other support.

Anyone interested in helping the family out with funeral expenses before the planned benefit can call 247-1513 or 668-7103. The family says anyone can stop by Jones' home as well at 296 Bardeen Road in Hastings.
