Oswego Couple Face Animal Starvation, Child Endangerment Charges

Oswego police have charged a local couple with starving some 14 pets and subjecting children to what police called "deplorable conditions."

Candy Fox and Edward Demellow now face 14 counts of torturing or injuring and not feeding animals. Fox was charged with one count of endangering the welfare of a child, while Demellow was hit with three counts. Animal control officials said some animals were dead when police arrived, while others didn't survive. They said none were healthy, and all were malnourished. The animals were all seized, and Child Protective Services was contacted. Fox and Demellow are due in court November 14.
