The Central New York SPCA is investigating another horrible case of animal abuse in Syracuse.
A passerby spotted a garbage bag this week on Onondaga Creek Boulevard and found a six month old dead pitbull stuffed in the bag.
The dog weighed about nine pounds when it was found and SPCA investigators say the animal was covered in fleas and blisters. The dog was taken to a vet for examination and a preliminary cause of death is starvation.
This is the second such incident in Syracuse during the month of October. Earlier in the month, another dead pit bull-type dog was found near a dumpster in the city's Comstock neighborhood and that dog too, had been starved to death.
The SPCA and Syracuse Police are investigating both cases. They're asking anyone with information to call them and they say all tips will remain confidential.
